October 7, 2023 – “Preserving history through music.” Archivum Musicum Description: Hatikvah is the national anthem of the State of Israel. Part of 19th-century Jewish poetry, the theme of the Romantic composition reflects the 2,000-year-old desire of the Jewish people to return to the Land of Israel in order to reclaim it as a free and sovereign nation-state. The piece’s lyrics are adapted from a work by Naftali Herz Imber, a Jewish poet from Złoczów, Austrian Galicia. Imber wrote the first version of the poem in 1877, when he was hosted by a Jewish scholar in Iași, Romania.

November 12, 2023 – This is Hatikvah (התקווה) – The Hope. Across the globe, the national anthem of Israel is the timeless melody of hope that echoes the spirit of the Jewish people in these trying times. We find strength where we can. For me, nothing says unity like the power of collective voices. The harmonies that touch the heartstrings. The raw emotion that such a profound tune carries, expresses a much deeper undertone since October 07. I reached out to Jewish singers from different corners of the globe to put together a heartfelt, raw, acapella rendition of Hatikvah. To remind us that together, no matter where we are in the world, the Jewish people can always find strength and unity, especially through the universal language of music.
