Ukrainian HIMARS

September 4, 2022 – Since the United States provided Ukraine with 16 High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (or HIMARS), the launchers are changing the face of battle, becoming a key weapon in Ukraine’s counteroffensive against invading Russian forces. CBS News national security correspondent David Martin visits the Lockheed Martin plant where the highly effective precision rocket launchers are built; and a test range where HIMARS crews are trained to “shoot and scoot.”

October 7, 2022 – Amid its ongoing counteroffensive in the south and east, Ukraine has been armed with a new and more lethal HIMARS rocket. The new HIMARS rocket for Kyiv is more advanced and lethal than what Ukrainian forces have been using on the battlefield so far. The M30A1 HIMARS rocket is capable of devastating half a square mile (1.3 sq km) of land in a single salvo. A single M30A1 rocket can blanket an “area of over four football fields, meaning a salvo of six rockets can blanket half a square mile. New HIMARS rockets another challenge for Putin’s troops?

December 5, 2022 – Ukrainian forces fired 20 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System (HIMARS) missiles one night recently to destroy a special Russian military train of over 40 cars loaded with Russian troops, military equipment, and ammunition.

December 7, 2022 – Since June 2022, the United States has given the Ukrainian military 20 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System launchers, also known as HIMARS, and a sizable stock of satellite-guided rockets with a nearly 50-mile range. These guided multiple-launch rocket systems, also known as GMLRS, have been employed to attack Russian command posts, logistics hubs, and munitions storage facilities on Ukrainian territory.

The US has provided Ukraine with long-range Army Tactical Missile System rockets, or ATACMS missiles, which have a range of approximately 200 miles. HIMARS has proven to be quite valuable in recapturing territory that the Russians had previously seized. According to a report by the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), HIMARS was critical for the Ukrainian military in thwarting Russian supply lines during the takeover of Kherson.

January 2, 2023 – Ukrainian officials have said as many as 400 Russian soldiers were killed in a missile strike on a temporary barracks. Russia has admitted that more than 60 soldiers had died in the Ukrainian attack in Makiivka in the Russian-occupied region of Donetsk in east Ukraine. It said the building was struck by four missiles. Clive Myrie presents BBC News at Ten reporting by Hugo Bachega in Kyiv.

January 3, 2023 -CNN’s Scott McLean reports on growing frustration in Russia after a Ukrainian missile strike killed a large number of Russian soldiers at a vocational school in Makiivka, in the Donetsk region.

February 25, 2023 – Ukraine is reportedly set to receive the US-made Joint Direct Attack Munition – Extended Range, or JDAM-ER bombs. Unspecified “precision aerial munitions” are part of a $1.9-billion aid package that the Pentagon announced in December. Ukrainian squadrons currently have limited capability to strike a target not farther than a few kilometers away. However, with the new JDAM-ER, the Ukrainian military can bomb Russian targets as far as 80 km away. The JDAM-ER would give Ukraine roughly the same range as the M31 rockets fired by HIMARS, but with warheads up to 10 times the size.

April 5, 2023 – Oleksii Reznikov, the Minister of Defence of Ukraine, reported that another batch of British M270 MLRS had arrived in Ukraine. The UK is sending its first long-range missiles to Ukraine, and the defense secretary has said, despite a threat from Russia to the West. Ben Wallace said the M270 multiple-launch rocket system would help Ukraine defend itself against Russia.

May 22, 2023 – HIMARS became the MVP of Ukraine’s fall 2022 counterattacks and has maintained its cherished status in the time since. But now a new weapon called Storm Shadow is upending the conflict once again. But why are HIMARS and Storm Shadow so powerful against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. This video looks at the history of HIMARS, Ukraine’s HIMARS strategy, and how Storm Shadow acts as a super-charged version of the system.

July 13, 2023 – In the midst of ongoing conflict, Ukrainian forces are leveraging US-supplied glide bombs to their advantage. This video delves into the use of two distinct glide bombs: the GLSDB (Ground-Launched Small Diameter Bomb) and the JDAM-ER (Joint Direct Attack Munition-Extended Range). However, these American-made guided weapons are facing challenges due to Russia’s electronic interference, impacting their precision and effectiveness. Despite the initial success of the HIMARS system in Ukraine’s counteroffensive in September 2022, recent reports suggest that Russian electronic jammers have disrupted the system’s GPS-guided targeting, leading to missed targets.

The stakes are high as Ukraine heavily relies on HIMARS to target Russian logistical and military infrastructure. The video also explores the impact of jamming interference on the operational effectiveness of the JDAM-ER. Despite anti-jamming enhancements, Russia’s advanced electronic warfare systems are influencing the flight path of these intelligent weapons. This video provides an in-depth analysis of the ongoing electronic warfare and the countermeasures being developed. It highlights the need for continuous innovation and adaptation in the face of evolving warfare tactics. Watch now to understand the intricate dynamics of modern warfare.

August 11, 2023 – Today I will show you how HIMARS are burning out Russian troops in Ukraine. These weapons broke all the plans of the Russians, how and why did it happen? Let’s get to the bottom of it.

October 19, 2023 – The first videos of ATACMS being used by Ukraine have been released and the United States has announced a new permanent supply will be provided to Ukraine on an on-going basis. Russia’s big Fall offensive has failed in Avdiivka after taking horrendous losses. Russia has announced their intention to pull out of the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty.

October 20, 2023 – Thanks to US-supplied ATACMS missiles, the Russian Air Force has experienced probably its worst week since the launch of the Kremlin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Watch the video for the tally of the losses and reactions from both sides.
