January 29, 2023 – Russia’s 2022 invasion of Ukraine revealed significant issues with Russian planning, force structure and military culture. On this channel I’ve spent the better part of a year exploring some of those issues and helping to explain why, as suggested back in March 2022, this was (and is) a much closer war many analysts expected.

June 16, 2023 – When Russian invaded Ukraine, the BBC and its partners began painstakingly verifying and counting as many deaths as possible. We identified more than 25,000 named individuals – people we know to have died – setting a bare minimum for Russia’s total losses. The count provides hard evidence of the war’s impact on Russian forces. But it has also given answers to grieving families. Some relatives did not even know what had happened to their loved ones until the BBC traced them.

July 20, 2023 – Russia has said any ships travelling to Ukraine’s Black Sea ports will be seen as possibly carrying military cargo. Defense and security analyst Professor Michael Clarke says Moscow’s threat is “ridiculous” and that “no one believes it” – but says the motive is to play on the insurance industry which will see no ships sail towards Ukrainian Black Sea ports without damage coverage.
August 1, 2023 – “Putin thought it would be a three day war where he could shore up his popularity. I think this is the war that will end his power.” Putin is ‘scrambling to turn around’ Russia’s ‘hollowed out military’ as drone strikes on Moscow continue, says financier and campaigner Bill Browder.

A Russian commanding officer has admitted that it is impossible for Russia to defeat the Ukrainian military and their best hope is for a freeze in the war until Russia can rebuild itself. Russia’s moon landing craft fell out of the moon’s orbit and crashed on the lunar surface.

Prigozhin is back and has released a new video of himself in Africa claiming he is there to “help” the local people of Africa.

The book alleges that Musk feared Moscow would retaliate with nuclear weapons. Musk began donating Starlink terminals to Ukraine in the early days of the war. September 19, 2023 – President Zelenskyy has arrived in New York City to attend the UN General Assembly. He will then fly to Washington DC to meet with President Biden and members of Congress before they vote on the next year’s funding bill for Ukraine totalling of $24 Billion. Russia on Kremlin State TV is already telling their people that the delivery of F-16s and ATACMS missiles is not a big deal and does not matter to the war.
September 21, 2023 – Ukraine has often been criticized for its counter-offensive, with critics saying it is slow, inefficient, and too spread out. Reports in prominent and influential media outlets have cited different officials and experts offering various critics, but one aspect in particular has stood out. According to the New York Times, on Aug. 10, in a video teleconference, Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff; his British peer, Adm. Tony Radakin; as well as Gen. Christopher Cavoli, the commander of US Forces in Europe, urged Ukraine’s top general, Valeriy Zaluzhnyi, to focus Ukraine’s troops on one main front. October 1, 2023 – The United State government avoided a shutdown by passing a 45-day continuing resolution to fund the government based on last year’s spending levels except for aid given to Ukraine. Speaker of the House McCarthy now has to decide if he wants to allow an up or down vote for aid to Ukraine separate from all the other spending bills that need to pass or if he wants to continue not allowing a vote in the hopes it can be tied to other government funding to avoid a shutdown in November. Russia’s allies in Congress meanwhile do everything they can to undermine America’s support for Ukraine and help Russia win this war.
October 3, 2023 – The United States has 43 more days now to pass a budget for the next year and include military funding aid for Ukraine. Overwhelming majorities in both Houses of Congress support it along with the White House, but Russia and people who support Russia are doing everything they can to undermine support for Ukraine in the West. Meanwhile the situation on the frontlines grows worse for Russia every day as more of their soldiers defect and surrender to Ukraine the West.
October 11, 2023 – Hamas has declared total war on the state of Israel and Israel has mobilized their population and declared a state of war themselves for the first time in 50 years. The documented crimes recorded and published by Hamas against civilians are unspeakable terror. Russia refuses to condemn Hamas and instead states that the Muslim world led by Iran are their allies.
October 17, 2023 – ATACMS from the United States have finally arrived in Ukraine in an overnight strike that destroyed two Russian airbases in the occupied territories and destroyed 9 Russian helicopters. Russia big Fall offensive to take the city of Avdiivka has run out of steam after more than five days of relentless around the clock assaults on Ukrainian defensive positions. Putin has arrived in China for a Belt and Road Initiative conference while offering to put himself in the middle of the war in the Middle East.
October 20, 2023 – Thanks to US-supplied ATACMS missiles, the Russian Air Force has experienced probably its worst week since the launch of the Kremlin’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Watch the video for the tally of the losses and reactions from both sides.
October 22, 2023 – Russia’s Air Force just experienced their worst week of the war experiencing staggering losses of planes and helicopters. The Russians continue their insane assaults on Avdiivka with almost no progress to show after taking thousands of casualties in the last ten days. Putin is being told by his generals that “everything is going to plan” as Putin prefers being lied to instead of hearing the truth.
November 2, 2023 – The distribution of Russian losses over time is striking as the delivery of Western military aid in 2023 has proven to make this war much more deadly for Russian forces. After the anti-Israeli riot at the Dagestan airport, almost nobody is being punished by Russian authorities as the Kremlin fears a crackdown on this region will lead to further revolts. Congress continues to debate additional aid to Ukraine as Western media is infiltrated by Russian sympathizers and propagandists.
November 7, 2023 – Ukraine’s top general has said the war with Russia has reached a stalemate, with neither side able to make a decisive breakthrough. In an essay for The Economist, General Valery Zaluzhny gave a frank and sobering assessment of how the war is going, stating it is grinding to a geographical and technological deadlock, with both sides finding ways to match the other. The Commander-in-Chief set out five areas where Ukraine has to beat the Russians if it is to win the war.
November 8, 2023 – “I don’t think the Russians feel at this moment they’re about to lose Crimea, but it’s taken them way too much, they’ve got major blows to their prestige and it’s hard to explain inside Mother Russia.” Putin will be facing serious questions in Russia about failure to stop repeated strikes on Crimea as Ukraine gets significant upgrades to their missile reach, Retired Brigadier General Peter Zwack tells Frontline on timesradio.
November 10, 2023 – On Kremlin State TV, Solovyov has declared that Russia is now in a new permanent war with the West and that Russia will have to fight this war forever or else until Western democracy is destroyed. Putin’s regime also can now never let these wars end or else his people would revolt against him for Russia’s decline in personal freedoms and economic prosperity. President Zelenskyy states that a large-scale military operation is coming soon to help break the perception of the war being a stalemate.
November 14, 2023 – Russian state media fell for a hoax and accidentally reported Russian forces were retreating from Kherson. Avdiivka is now a graveyard for thousands of fallen soldiers as winter approaches. Solvoyov on Kremlin state TV complains that ordinary Russians do not talk about and are not enthusiastically supporting Putin’s three-day special military operation anymore.
November 17, 2023 – “Russia abandoning Crimea will be a gigantic step towards ending this war because I think for Russia, Crimea is what it’s all about.”
December 8, 2023 – Almost two years after Russia’s attack on Ukraine, winter is once again worsening conditions for civilians and for soldiers. Hopes of a successful counteroffensive have been dashed. Instead, Ukraine is facing renewed pressure on the battlefield – while Kyiv’s allies have scaled back pledges of new aid. We talk to Ben Hodges, former Commanding General of the US Army in Europe, about what Ukraine can still expect from the West.

December 12, 2023 – Most analyses of the Ukrainian counteroffensive declare it a failure, with a good portion of them blaming Ukraine’s scattered focus.
