Mossad – The Institute for Intelligence and Special Operations (המוסד למודיעין ולתפקידים מיוחדים ha-Mosád le-Modiʿín u-le-Tafkidím Meyuḥadím), known as Mossad, is the national intelligence agency of Israel. It is one of the main entities in the Israeli Intelligence Community, along with Aman (military intelligence) and Shin Bet (internal security). Mossad is responsible for intelligence collection, covert operations, and counterterrorism.
Aman – The Israeli Military Intelligence (אגף המודיעין; Agaf HaModi’in; literally “the Intelligence Section”), abbreviated Aman (אמ״ן), is the central, overarching military intelligence body of the Israel Defense Forces. It is one of the main entities (and the largest component) of the Israeli Intelligence Community, along with Mossad and Shin Bet.
Shin Bet – The Israel Security Agency (ISA; שֵׁירוּת הַבִּיטָּחוֹן הַכְּלָלִי, Sherut haBitaẖon haKlali, lit.erally ‘the General Security Service’; جهاز الأمن العام, jihāz al’amn al`ami), better known by the acronym Shabak (שב״כ; IPA: شاباك) or the Shin Bet (a two-letter Hebrew abbreviation of “Security Service”), is Israel’s internal security service. It is one of three principal organizations of the Israeli intelligence community, alongside Aman (military intelligence) and Mossad (foreign intelligence service).
October 7, 2023 – Former CIA director John Brennan, former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO Adm. James Stavridis, and former Deputy National Security advisor Ben Rhodes join Alex Witt to discuss the strategic and tactical sophistication of Hamas’ surprise attack on Israel and the implications for Israeli intelligence moving forward. October 7, 2023 – Palestinian Islamist group Hamas launched the biggest attack on Israel in years on Saturday, killing at least 70 people and claiming it had taken dozens of hostages in a surprise assault combining gunmen crossing into Israel and a barrage of rockets fired from Gaza. The offensive caught the country completely off guard.
